Ever wonder if you have what it takes to work for the CIA? Truth is, we hire all kinds of people from different backgrounds and with varying skill sets and levels of education. However, there are a few common traits in those people we find best suited for our mission of protecting America. Take this brief quiz and see how you match up to just a few of the many qualifications we look for in new hires. And don't worry, there are really no wrong answers. In fact, this is just a fun, informative exercise, not a true career measurement tool.

Are you on the right track for a career at CIA?

  1. Have you explored available student opportunities at CIA?

  2. Do you have at least a 3.0 GPA?

  3. Are you a US citizen?

  4. Do you have an interest in what is going on in the world around you?

  5. Do you have prior military experience or have you lived overseas?

If you have answered "no" to all questions:

If you have answered "yes" to all questions:

You could be on your way to a career at the Central Intelligence Agency. You realize that this is not just a job, but a chance to make a difference for your nation. You also show academic promise, communicate well, and realize the importance of teamwork. At the CIA, you must, at all times, live up to the highest standard of personal integrity and ethics. This could be your opportunity to work with the best and the brightest individuals in your respective field.

If you have answered "no" to question number 2 and "yes" to question 5:

The new college graduates we hire for positions within the CIA must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. That's because we hire only the best and the brightest to meet our mission of protecting America. So make sure you keep your grades up, because it will be important in life for whatever career choice you pursue. While we hire new graduates from all majors, there is especially a need for individuals with technology, foreign language, or analytical skills.

If you have answered "no" to question number 3:

US citizenship is a requirement for employment with the Central Intelligence Agency. When you are ready to apply for a position, you must be able to meet this requirement.

If you have answered "no" to question number 5:

You don't necessarily need to have prior overseas or military experience to join the CIA, but it would be beneficial. Because we serve worldwide, a good head start in understanding other languages and cultures could be of benefit to meeting your job responsibilities. Proven experience in the military also shows that you may possess some of the necessary traits and skills for the job. We are an agency that truly believes in camaraderie, quiet patriotism, and always giving our all in order to get the job done to the best of our abilities.
