Recent Information About Installing and Using RestoreIT! 3.04
________________________________________________________________

This document contains last minute technical information regarding the installation and use of this version of RestoreIT! 3.04.

Please read this information prior to installing and attempting to use RestoreIT!.

RestoreIT! is a personal backup tool. The application's restore capability relies on many factors such as the intensity of disk usage and the amount of disk space allocated for recording changes. RestoreIT! can restore data on your hard disk as long as the hard disk is still functional. If your hard drive is physically damaged, it can be assumed that the backup data available to RestoreIT! has been damaged as well. With this in mind, RestoreIT! is not intended to replace traditional backup devices such as tape drives.

The following are important issues related to the use of RestoreIT!.

Minimum Requirements
=========================
1. Supports Microsoft* Windows* XP, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 98,
Windows 98 SE, and Windows ME. Does not support Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Advance Server.
2. Requires at least 400MB hard drive disk space to be allocated for the RestoreIT! Partition.
3. RestoreIT! program requires at least 25 MB hard drive disk space
4. Requires at least 128MB of RAM if the hard drive disk size is bigger than 128GB.
5. Does not support RAID 1 or Higher.
6. Each GB of data requires 30-45 minutes when creating a static restore point.

Known Limitations
===========================
1. This software is not compatible with Norton* Ghost* 2003.
2. If the user wishes to create a hard drive disk image with RestoreIT! on the hard drive disk, the user can only deploy the hard drive disk image on a same size hard drive disk. If the hard drive disk size is different, RestoreIT! will generate an error.
3. RestoreIT! can only protect the primary hard drive disk.
4. RestoreIT! can only restore the C Drive or the entire hard drive disk.
5. RestoreIT! cannot be installed if all four of the boot sectors are filled.
6. RestoreIT! cannot be installed if the DOS partition and the last extended partition do not have any free space.
7. The user will not be able to restore the system if the system is being modified through a bootable CD or a floppy disk.
8. Sometimes multiple defragmentations will need to be run, or a third party tool such as Powerquest* PartitionMagic* 8 needs to be used to free up the tail space for RestoreIT! to create its partition.
9. During creation of an incremental restore point, if the user is writing a file to the hard drive disk, the system may need to be restarted before the user can create another incremental restore point.
10.If the user wishes to upgrade from Windows ME to Windows 2000, RestoreIT! will not be able to restore the system back after the conversion of the file structure is set.

Before installation
==========================
1. Close all open applications.
2. Disable all anti-virus protection software and BIOS (please re-enable after installing RestoreIT!).
3. Uninstall previous versions of RestoreIT!.
4. Run Windows ScanDisk to verify the hard disk integrity.
5. Run Windows Disk Defragmenter to compact the free space on your hard disk.
6. This software is not compatible with Roxio* GoBack*.
7. This software is not compatible with Norton SystemWorks*.
