Ethics hearing dates set for Waters, Rangel

A House ethics panel has set hearing dates for Rep. Charlie Rangel of New York and Rep. Maxine Waters of California to address charges against the two longtime Democratic lawmakers.

Rangel's adjudicatory hearing will begin on Monday, Nov. 15, the committee announced in a statement. Waters' hearing is set to begin Monday, Nov. 29.

Last week, all five Republicans on the 10 member committee made a rare formal demand that the hearings be held before the midterm elections.

In the statement announcing the hearings, committee chair Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., said the minority's public request was made "in contrast to their prior requests and ongoing discussions" with the majority, which are kept private as a rule.

Rangel is charged with violating 13 House rules, including allegations that he solicited donations using official letterhead to raise funds for an educational center bearing his name. Waters is accused of giving special help to a bank in which her husband held stock.

Of course the Democrats won't let hearings begin before the upcoming elections. These two represent the Pelosi ideal of a clean congress

They are black. They have done nothing that they do not deserve from their white oppressors. Just ask the DOJ.

Bottom line ....... there are crooks enough in BOTH parties. And these two will never get their well earned pink slips because the people in their communities will defend  them. Call it "justice a la OJ".

Again anyone who thinks it is just Dem's isn't paying attention.  Make no mistake some of our Republican servants are grabbing even more.

Prove it Edward that Republicans are grabbing more. Show the proof and if you can't then you need to shut your mouth.

Darn it! The Democratic leadership just missed scheduling the hearings before the November elections. How convenient for them. I guess Nancy Pelosi decided to leave a little mud in the swamp after all. I guess some of her favorite pets needed a mud hole that they could rut around.

Hussein, I still don't see you telling us who these Repubs are. I know there are just as many crooks on one side of the isle as the other but you are saying there are specific incidents. Name them.

All of you pointing fingers and kicking and screaming are right.

Pelosi, Rangel and Waters should have just taken a page from the GOP playbook and engaged in a full-blown cover up like Hastert and Foley did.

We'll try and do better next time.

This is a big joke. Who do the Dems think they are fooling? Waters will get

convicted but Rangel? This is a horse of a different color. They can't touch him.

And who knows, most of the incriminating evidence has probably disappeared

already. The Dems weren't born yesterday. They know an election is in the

offing and they know that they will be flattened a bit, so to make it easier the

evidence against Rangel will have to disappear. Anyone remember Meg

Whitman in California? Moonbeam Brown sure did an October surprise on the

GOP. The Dems are past masters of skullduggery and deception.

Typical Republican ploy. Let's have the hearing before the election. Anything for an edge. I haven't 'em clamoring for such swift justice for their crew of criminals. Worst hypocrites I ever had the misfortune to know.

Rangle should be brought to trial in federal court .Forget the ethics comittee . It's probably a done deal before it begins. ( I think) I lost faith in our justice system ,at all levels. Rangle should be removed in this upcoming elections . He' is all for charlie , I believe he lives by the saying ,which follows,, after me ,you're first.. . One other comment I want to make, A two term limit for senators and comgressmen should be put on the ballot next election.

You can bet if they were Republicans, there would be a court date set for next week Monday.

This is just one more thing to remember when we go to the polls November 2nd.

                  Hypocrites.

Ethics hearing dates set for Waters, Rangel

Shouldn't it be lack of ethics hearings?

Hope this is televised...it would be great entertainment to see these two Democrat thieves try to defend themselves....Of course Maxine Waters is dumber than a bag of hammers and barely speaks English so she will immediately play the race card and then take the 5th....

If Wrangel can keep his seat, why O'Donnell can't win in Delaware? Anything is

possible isn't it? Boy if O'Donnell pulls that off, its the end of the Dems

nationwide. Its the last straw for the Dems, if she upset the applecart.

It doesn't matter, the nitwits who vote for them will re-elect them and the charade in congress will result in a censor.
