In the Community & Across the Nation

The Directorate of Science and Technology (DS&T) makes every effort to reach out and support the community and the nation in which we live and work. Below you will find a list of some of our outreach activities.

In the Community: Academic Outreach
The DS&T is proud to be involved in local projects, especially those involving our schools. Here are just a few of the academic programs we support:

  • Local High School Science Fairs
  • National Youth Leadership Forum on Defense, Intelligence, and Diplomacy
  • The Presidential Classroom
  • Viva Technology

Across the Nation: Professional Outreach
The DS&T supports several minority conferences. We have the opportunity to take part in many conference activities, including career fairs. We usually provide multimedia presentations on some of our activities and software tools. We sometimes sponsor workshops, provide speakers, or put some of our technical tools on display. DS&T recruiters are always on hand to answer any question conference members might have regarding employment. The organizations we have an affiliation with include, but are not limited to:

  • American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)
  • Black Executive Exchange Program (BEEP)
  • National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
  • Society for the Advancement of Chicanos & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS)
  • Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists
  • Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
