Notice of Availability of Draft Environmental Assessment for 30-Day Public Review

The United States Government (USG) has prepared a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) evaluating the environmental impacts associated with the construction of a new Health and Wellness Center on the George Bush Center for Intelligence (GBCI) campus. The draft EA was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 and the Council of Environmental Quality regulations implementing NEPA.

Specifically, the proposed action is to construct a new standalone, multi-story (total height exceeding 18 feet), unclassified Health and Wellness Center on the GBCI campus in Fairfax County, Virginia. The purpose of the proposed action is to construct a facility to satisfy the physical health, wellbeing, and resilience needs of the CIA workforce. Construction is anticipated to be completed in three phases over 18 months.

The proposed action is not anticipated to have any significant adverse effects on human health or the environment. Starting Monday, April 20, 2020 the draft EA for the project is available for a 30-day public review on our Reports page, as well as here: [PDF 11.06 MB*].
