Be in the Know...Subscribe to CIA News Feeds

Are you looking for information on new job openings at the CIA? Are you a current events buff who likes to be the first to know about world events and what’s going on at CIA? If you are, then you will be excited about CIA’s new feed feature, which will help you stay up-to-date on all the Agency’s latest news and information.

Real Simple Syndication, or RSS, is a tool that will download and display news feeds from CIA and all of your favorite Web sites -- all within one screen via an RSS reader. Essentially, the feeds are simply Web sites that are designed to be read by your computer, instead of you. They also alert you when content has been added to the Web sites you have added to your reader.

So how does this new feature work? Simply click on the RSS link on the CIA homepage to get a of list of our available feeds. Once you have picked the feeds you are interested in subscribing to, follow the directions below for the browser you are using to view our Web site.

RSS for Internet Explorer and Firefox

Both Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox have built-in RSS readers that allow you to subscribe to the feed. Simply click on the feed link (i.e., CIA Press Releases) and then the “subscribe” or “add feed” button.

Other Browsers

If you are using a browser without a built-in RSS reader, or wish to use a standalone RSS reader, you must download and install your preferred reader before subscribing to a feed. There are a wide range of readers available for your use, and some of them are even free. To choose the one that’s best for you, simply search the World Wide Web for RSS readers.

Once your reader is installed, you can copy the feed URL that you wish to subscribe to and paste it into that reader. This is usually done by clicking your reader’s “add subscription” or “add feed” button and pasting in the feed URL. Feed URLs will end in “.xml” and they can be copied from any Web page. You can simply right click on the RSS link and choose “copy shortcut” or “copy link” location and then paste that information into your chosen reader.

Simply Enjoy Your CIA RSS Feed

Once you have subscribed to one of our feeds, your RSS reader will alert you when we have added new content to our Web site. This will ensure you’ll be one of the first to know What’s New at
