CIA Officer Receives EEOD Award
The Intelligence Community (IC) recently recognized a CIA officer for her exceptional equal employment and diversity outreach work.
The officer—assigned to CIA’s Center for Mission Diversity and Inclusion (CMDI)—received the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) 2011-2012 IC Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity (EEOD) Exceptional Service Award, which is presented to an IC EEOD officer who has substantially advanced strategic IC goals and developed exceptional, original and innovative EEOD practices.
Community Outreach and Liaison Staff
The officer was recognized for her innovative program management of CMDI’s Community Outreach and Liaison Staff (COLS). COLS helps gain access to mission-critical talent and establishes relationships with community groups and professional organizations to pave the way for Agency recruitment efforts.
Under the officer’s leadership, COLS is raising awareness and understanding about the CIA’s work in strategic, diverse communities by:
- involving senior leaders from across the Agency in a range of EEOD outreach activities;
- launching new initiatives in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) and South Asian American communities; and
- providing substantive presentations and networking opportunities tailored to audiences in the Asian, Hispanic, and Middle Eastern communities.
CIA’s Commitment to EEOD
CIA strives to embody the values of teamwork, diversity, fairness, respect and inclusion and to be an employer of choice because of these attributes. The Agency is committed to fostering and preserving a climate in which a diverse cross-section of Americans, developed to their full potential, succeeds at the challenging mission of intelligence. This begins with creating a workforce diverse in cultural backgrounds, linguistic skills, and life experiences.
