Operation Santa Claus: DCIA Presents Toys for Tots to Marines

During this holiday season, CIA employees collected 26 bins of toys for the annual Toys for Tots Marine Corps Reserve campaign, the largest donation that the Marines have received at the Quantico Toys for Tots location this year.

“Thank you to everybody involved in Operation Santa Claus,” said CIA Director John Brennan during a ceremony on December 16th at Headquarters where he presented the toys to Marine representatives Sergeant Robert Bradley, Staff Sergeant Matthew Dennis, and Corporal Jannelle Medina. “The men and women in uniform represent the best of this country,” said Brennan, noting how he appreciated the Marine’s efforts to bring joy to children in need at this time of year.

Brennan also presented the Marines with his personal donation to the campaign—a stuffed Olaf doll from the movie Frozen. “I understand that this is very popular, but I don’t know what it is,” he joked. “But as a new grandfather, I am going to have to get used to these things.”

The CIA began Operation Santa Claus in 1968 and has formally collaborated with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation since 2000. “The Agency is dedicated to public service,” said Brennan, “and I think the workforce demonstrates that every day.”
