December 17, 2012
Central Intelligence Agency Acting Director Michael J. Morell on Friday, December 14 presented the Marine Corps Reserve “” campaign with several dozen boxes of toys for local children in need. The presentation was the culmination of the Agency’s annual “Operation Santa Claus” toy drive.
“The men and women of CIA are all about service,” Acting Director Morell said. “They are all about service to our country, and they are all about service to the national security of the United States. But we are also all about service to others, and throughout the year we are involved in a variety of charity events.” He expressed his hope that the toys presented to the Marine Corps Reserve would “bring smiles to the faces of children this holiday season.”
Acting Director Morell and his wife, Mary Beth, presented Sergeant Jay Nicholas Baldino, the officer in charge for the Quantico Marine Base’s local “Toys for Tots” program, with two of the Agency’s gifts, a buildable transport chopper and an adventure play set. Sergeant Baldino then presented Acting Director Morell with the US Marine Corps Reserve Commander’s Certificate, recognizing the CIA’s outstanding support to this year’s “Toys for Tots” campaign.
The CIA has a long history of support to charitable programs. This is the Agency’s thirteenth year supporting “Toys for Tots,” and it has been involved with similar efforts for more than four decades.
