DCI Statement on Death of Rep. Julian Dixon

Statement by George J. Tenet, Director of Central Intelligence, on the Death of Rep. Julian Dixon

December 8, 2000

Julian Dixon’s passing is a profound loss for all of us who have worked with and admired this extraordinary public servant. His tenure on the intelligence oversight committee was marked by a deep understanding and appreciation of our work, and an even deeper caring for the men and women who devote their lives to national security. His approach to oversight was direct, thorough, and always fair. Above all, however, Julian was a gentleman whose grace, humility, and humor touched all who had the privilege to know him. I sought and valued his advice, and I will miss this decent man more than words can express.

On behalf of the men and women of our Intelligence Community, Stephanie and I extend our deepest condolences to Julian Dixon’s family and colleagues.
