Objectives: To find a synthetic analgesic and antitussive
drug which would be as safe from the point of view of toxicity
and addiction liability as is codeine.

ATTEMPTS TO BLOCK LSD REACTION WITH SQL GIVE
SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH LSD
These experiments were carried out because the
close chemical similarity of DOL and LSD suggested that
SOL might block the LSD reaction by competing with LSD
for receptor sites.
Subjects used were IS nontolerant former morphine
addicts, all Negro males who were in good physical con�
dition who presented no evidence of major psychoses.
Most of these patients had had considerable experience
