Dear Coordinator:
DECtI' ~~ 1'04
This is a request made under the Federal Freedom of Information Act, 5 U.S.C. &
I would like to receive all transcripts of voice communications recorded aboard
American Airlines Flight 11, which crashed into the north tower of the World Trade
Center in Manhattan, NY, on September 11, 2001.
As a student at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, I am researching and writing
a paper about terror attacks to the United States and the audio tape(s) that I am requesting
would be beneficial and help inform me of what specifically happenedon that tragic day.
I am aware that the only public figures to hear these tapes are some of the families
of the victims. However, I believe that what I am asking for would be immensely
informative. Our nation is currently involved in two wars, in Afghanistan and Iraq,
which is due to our war on terrorism and what happened on September 11, 2001. Being
an American, I feel that it is my right to know exactly what happened on that particular
flight.
Please waive any applicable fees. Release of the information is in the public
interest and we are entitled to hear, for ourselves, what happened.
If you deny all or any part of this request, please cite each specific exemption you
think justifies your refusal to release the information and notify me of appeal procedures
available under the law.
Since I am making this request in order to gain knowledge and understanding,
along with writing a college paper, I would appreciate a reply within 10 business days, as
required by law.
If you have anyquestions about handling this request, you may telephone me at
Sincerely,
