Re: Request For Records Under Freedom of Information Act
Dear Sir or Madam:
This law firm represents Erwin Rautenberg in connection with the above-referenced request
under the Freedom of Information Act.
On September 13, 1999, a letter requesting the disclosure of copies of materials available
from the Central Intelligence Agency was sent to your office. Under present regulations and case
law pertaining to the Freedom of Information Act, the documents requested are available to Mr.
Rautenberg and other members of the public and are not exempt from required disclosure under
present interpretations of the Act.
To date, I have not received any response from the CIA regarding Mr. Rautenberg's request.
As you are well aware, under the Code of Federal Regulations, such a response must be made within
twenty (20) working days from the time the request is received. Thus, your office is in clear default
of its obligations under the Code.
Your immediate response is hereby demanded. If such a response is not received promptly,
I shall have no alternative but to seek recourse provided under the applicable regulations.
