Central Intelligence Agency (b)(3) Washington, D.C. 20505 17 September 2009 Mr. Mark Zaid Executive Director The James Madison Project 1380 Monroe Street, NW, Unit 269 Washington, D.C. 20010 APPROVED FOR RELEASE^ DATE: 18-Aug-2010 This is a final response to your 31 December 1999 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for records pertaining to "the May 1999 bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade, Yugoslavia." We processed your request in accordance with the FOIA, 5 U.S.C. ? 552, as amended, and the CIA Information Act, 50 U.S.C. ? 431, as amended. Our processing included a search for records as described in our 13 January 2000 acceptance letter existing through the date of that letter. We completed a thorough search for records responsive to your request and located the enclosed six documents that we determine can be released in full and 32 documents that can be released in segregable form with deletions made on the basis of FOIA exemptions (b)(1), (b) 2), (b)(3), and/or (b)(6). Additional material was determined to be currently and properly classified and must be withheld in its entirety on the basis of FOIA exemptions (b)(1), (b)(2), (b)(3), (b)(5), and/or (b)(6). An explanation of exemptions is enclosed. We also located United States Government material that CIA did not originate. We have referred this material to its originating agency for review as it appears to be relevant to your request. That agency will respond to you directly. You may appeal my decision to the Agency Release Panel, in my care, within 45 days from the date of this letter. Please include the basis of your appeal. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the period required to complete the processing of this request. Sincerely, Delores M. Nelson Information and Privacy Coordinator
