SUBJECT: Continued interest in the than-Portable weapons
Captured by Israeli Farces in Lebanon
Rather than send the note you prepared to the Secretary of Defense, I
raised it with hi? at breakfast this Morning. ~ told hf~ that we were
very grateful for his support in obtaining Israeli-captured weapons
before, and that I understood a survey teas was going out to Israel this
Month to take s second look. I indicated that we would be very grateful
for whatever additional hand-held weapons the teas could garner for our
use in our para~i.litary programs. The Secretary said that he would he
happy to support us and would make sure that the survey teats would keep
us in mind. Deput~r Secretary Taft Made a note to follow up.
