The Project 941 ("TYPHOON") nuclear Dowered submarine was launched in 1980 and under- went sea trails in the White. Sea in 1981. The submarine is equipped with two nuclear reactors, displaces 25,000 tons, has, a submerged speed of 28 knots, and a critical submersion depth of up to 600 meters with a cruising depth which is much less. 2. The submarine is equipped with 20 D-19 solid propellant ballistic missiles with a range of up to 10,000 kilometers. The missile is 15 meters long. The missiles were test launched to the Kamchatka area with 8, 19 and 12 separating warheads. The devia- tions from the targets were up to ki_5_211_meters. Because of the insufficient accuracy, it is probani that 10 separate warheads will be left on each missile. Source did not know the exact yield of each warhead but stated that it is two to three times that of analogous US warheads. TS #848090 Copy # ( Approved for Release: 2017/06/14 C05508942
