A 2 solution was given in- travenously. The first 10 cc was riven et the rate of 2 cc a minute; beyond thnt, I cc a minute. The stimulant Was Benzedrine, 10 mg orally. The totel mount of Sodium Pentothnl was 19 cc of the s40.ution which would represent not quite 0.5 gm. of the drug. The intravenous Sodium Pentothal was started at 1100. At 1105, 10 cc had been administered. At 1107, the injection was again started and this cnrtinued at 1111, 4 more cc having been administered.- At that time, the Subject dosed off but was easily nroused. At 1117, the injection was again started end this con- tinued after the administration of 1 more cc. . This procedure of givIng 1 cc intermittently was repeated at 1122, 1125, 1130 and 1154. Excellent transference was obtained in this case. de was, regressed to a time when he attended a party given by the police and he reacted emotionally to that environment, including becoming under the influence of alcohol which was served there. The original plan was to give an intravenous stimulant but the needle had become :1or7ed due to a blood clot therein end it was believed to be inadvisnele to have to make nother puncture, hence, the stimulant was T.ivon orally at 1222 (10 771 of cn7edrine). At 1235, black coffee was administered. The Sobject was then in- structed to rest for a half of an hour and then eat his mid-day menl. The medication was effective as to the desired results. It is believed that when this particular drug, Sodium Fentothal, is used, the medthod employed in this case is best, that is, after the initial stage of impaired consciousness be pro- duced, it is advisa;)le to f;ive intermittently smell nmoonts of the drur: in order to mainta.in the desired state. Mien using Sodium Yenvtal, however, due to the more prolonf:ed effect, it is not so necessary to inter-space minute doses in this wreT. The aftvantage of 50r3ium Fentothal is that it is much easier to have the man beck in his usual state in a comparatively short time but ine aro not sure thnt he ninesia vrill be as definite as in the use or Lilo lenr.:or nctinf; drug. In this pnrticv1Pr case, nmnesis for the 3. I. wns produced. Alfo, Sodium Fentothal is slizhtly more dnm;orous than Sodium Amytal in the more r7pid production of rcspirn- tory failure. 11m. 7 4/4)=)9 9 Office Memorandum UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO : Chief, I (.": S Staff FROM : Bluebird Team DATE: 27 November 190:0 1) SUBJECT: Lic dical Summnr t'vA"4:4141:11* Pile 13il28 - 1, 2, :0, 4, 5, 6, 7 -0,9 The drug used in this .case :as Sodium Amytal, both ernlly And intr=onously.
