It was pleasant to see you in Washington during my recent
visit there. I am enclosing reprints on the acetylmethadols

Since returning to Lexington 1 have decided *that it would
be best for me to cancel the European trip because of the
pressure of work during the current year... I arn now charged
with holding a symposium on drug addiction and the role of
the Public Health Service in the problem, in Bethesda in
January 1958. This, together with running the unit, and
building a house is such a full schedule that I cannot find
time to go to Europe.
