During the last of junc aad thc first part of July? 1953,
the procvssinz of purchase vouchtrs and of personnel pevrolls
was transferred from the hospital's administrative division to
the National lnitItute of 1,3'...;ntal Health* This administrative
change has functioned very volt and only minor difficulties
have been encountered. Uncertainties with respect to th udgt
for the current fisc41 year have hpered purchasing to 301,1Z

---.... The data definitely show that the testes and the adrenal
glands are capable of responding to the specific pituitary
hormones during addiction to morphine. Nevertheless,. excretion
of 17ketostero&ls Is markedly reduced during addiction and
enhanced during withdraial. Dr. Dorfmann, of the Vorccater
toundation for Ex-)eripenal Bloiccy, kindly analyzed a few
sales of urine for -us on -.1atic-ots who were addicted to morAine,
and during actile withdrawal of morphine. The excretion of
corticoids is much lower during mlintained addiction. The most
reasonable hypothesis explaining the fact: known to date is
