It is requested that the following typos of information be collected
on interrogation (or interview) techniques used by security police or-
ganisations, police departments, court rooms and intelligence services
throughout the world, with emphasis on any Soviet Russian activity, or
satellite activity*
General InterroTation: Routine interrogation methods, both formal and in-
formal, utilizing non-technical procedures to obtain the desired information.
Technical Aids to Interrogation:
Physical: Various methods of physical persuasion utilized to elicit
Information from the uncooperative subject.
Psycholovical: Threats, inferences, promises and extended procedures
utilised in special interrogation approaches, eoftening-ur procedures and
inducemnnts.
Mechanical: Various modes of lie detection apnaratus utilised as an
aid and verification in interrogation rrocedure.
Medical: Various drugs, such as the so-called "truth serums,"
utilised to break down inhibitions and resistances and to produce short or
prolonged control or influence over the subject. Also medical techniques
used as a form of medicinal durrees to prodUde pain or discomfort to the
subject.
