1. Pyongyang's propagand4 on the situation
continues to be limited to broadcasts of foreign
Communist press statements supporting the North
Korean position.
2. The Communist stand in the UN Security Coun-
cil is now one of emphasizing the need of inviting
Pyongyang to the discussions without any precondi-
tions. The Communists rejected the US condition
that the Council support prompt release of the ship
and crew prior to any discussion of broader Korean
issues with the participation of Seoul and Pyongyang.
