Overview of IRR Activities Last Week: (UHA1IN+)-0IM Declassification Center (U//A1U(J) NARA Discusses Projects at Presidential Libraries with ODC (U8A-11/0) On 4 January 2001, Sharon Fawcett, Deputy Assistant Archivist for Presidential Libraries at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) met with representatives from the OIM Declassification Center (ODC) to discuss the possibility of ODC providing document conversion and declassification support services at the presidential libraries. She asked if ODC could assist in scanning about 500,000 pages at the Carter Library, 50,000 pages of pre-presidential material at the Reagan Library, and a small amount of Nixon pre-presidential material at the Federal Records Center in San Miguel, California. In addition, she asked for CIA help in document processing at the Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Ford libraries. NARA would fund these (b)(3) efforts in FY 2001, according to Ms. Fawcett. ODC will respond to NARA after it reviews the details of the proposal. (U/rATIJO) ODC Volunteer To Help Move Clinton Presidential Materials to Classified Storage to Arkansas (U/!f.-The National Archives began the gargantuan task of moving 835 tons of presidential materials to the Clinton presidential library in Arkansas and has asked ODC for a volunteer to help. Chief of ODC's Declassification Review Division volunteered to be a security escort for the classified material, which will be transported on an Air Force C-5A Galaxy transport aircraft on the 18 January flight from Andrews Air Force Base to Little Rock, Arkansas. Hardly a plush assignment, this task will require a very early departure from Andrews aboard a drafty cargo plane that has no windows. Upon arrival, a convoy of semi-trucks will make the hour-long trek to the SCIF in Little Rock and NARA has assured the escort that he too must help unload and shelve the boxes in the SCIF before returning to Washington.
