2. During conversation at 1800 this evening
General Viola told me Jacobo Timerman was then being
processed for expulsion from Argentina tonight. -
He declined to provide destination, but implied it would
be Israel. I said we were concerned about his safety
and offered to do whatever we could in that regard.
Viola said not to worry about that, they would take
all possible steps to assure that he reached his destination
safe and sound. He declined to provide flight number or
airline, but press may soon have it since television
newsmen have already learned Timerman has left his
apartment and are speculating he will be leaving country.
