SUBJECT Access to Inspector General's files re Bay of
Pigs (C)
1. This memorandum is to confirm the request we discussed
by phone yesterday for access to I.G. files for the period 1 April
1961 through 30 November 1961 for material related to the I.G. in-
spection (actually a post mortem) on the Bay of Pigs Operation. (C)
2. As I specified yesterday, I am not interested in review
ing the actual I.G. report--I already nave one that-.(C)
3. My concern is to locate any information contained in
chrono file-, morandum files, personal files, project files
or other files which relate to the conduct of
the I.G.'s investigation. On 20 April 1961, Mr. Dulles directed
Mr. Kirkpatrick to undertake an investigation of the Bay of Pigs
Operation which came to an end on 19 April 1961. (C)
4. I would like to know what the records reflect concerning
Kirkpatrick's interest in, or contacts on, Cuban developments
during the specified time frame with:
