History Staff Bi-Weekly
Ken, along with representatives of OIS and IMS, attended a meeting at
National Archives on 19 March where they were given an Archives draft of a
memo of understanding about the disposition of OSS documents. The draft
memo is now being reviewed in the Agency.
Bob has taken over authorship of the chapter of the Helms history on
"Defectors and Soviet Penetrations of Allied Services." In this connection,
he and Ken talked with who wrote a draft history of CI
Staff. Ken also met with to arrange for access to CI materials.
Bob completed his OTE course "Intelligence Successes and Failures." In
connection with his assigned topic of the Arab-Israeli War of 1967, he
interviewed Sherman Kent and R. Jack Smith.

In the process of listing our documentary holdings, 0 came across
about 30 forwarding memos - each with an individual Top Secret number - for
a total of four 1955 documents. The documents, which have their own TS
numbers, are not attached. We have arranged for a CRD review of the
forwarding memos.looking to down-grading them to Secret, which would permit
us to considerably reduce the History Staff's block of TS holdings.
