serviced several requesters during this period.
F , came in to xerox part of our copy of the FDD History so that FBIS
could answer a query on the JPRS from the New York Times, as directed by
Public Affairs. FBIS had been unable to fin tat i n in their copy due
to what turned out to be an inaccurate reference.
OGI came in to begin reading the histories on counterinsurgency
t far had arranged some time ago for them to see. They
decided on one history concerning operations in Laos that they want to use
in a training course they are giving and will ask FE for a release. They
iso -asked about histories of the Guatemala operation
and suggested several books on the subject.
Academic Coordinator, called about a professor who had gotte the impression
the Agenc mi ht be of help to her on writing about Vietnam.
confirmed view that this was a wrong impression and then filled in
on what the Defense and State historians are doing toward making Vietnam
materials available to the public.
Ken talked to ORD, and another officer about the History
Staff. They apparently are exploring the idea of setting up an Intelligence
War College.
Bob had a six-hour interview with James Angleton, though much of the
time was spent on matters not d' t1 related to Bob's topic. Bob has been
in telephone contact again with He has also received a
copy of a letter from Chuck Briggs to the er o the House requesting
access to the jointly held-documents he needs.
Bob was presented with the Sherman Kent Award for the best article in
Studies in Intelligence at an award ceremony yesterday.
Ken and Bob are both attending two days of meetings of the Society for
the History of American Foreign Relations being held at George Washington
University.
Don continues to work every Wednesday in OSO/OSAD putting out a
newsletter for them. Our Agency want-ad for a rotational replacement for
him has been circulated.
