Tom Cormack
Executive Secretary
History Staff Bi-Weekly
Ken continues his involvement with various aspects of the OSS
materials. He talked on the telephone three times with John Sherwood,
reporter for the Washington Times, whose article on the OSS papers at the
National Archives appeared today. Ken talked with Geoffrey Jones, president
of the Donovan Memorial Foundation and of the OSS Veterans Association,
about an access request from one of the veterans. He also talked with Ed
Boughton, secretary of the Donovan Memorial Foundation, in regard to
Boughton's request for OSS films. Arrangements are being made for Boughton
to review 35mm films as a first step prior to FOIA review. IMS and IPD are
handling the case.
Ken forwarded to the State Department History Office, at their request,
a CONFIDENTIAL print-out of previously released NIEs and SNIEs.
Bob interviewed in Annapolis, Rolfe Kingsley in Haymarket,
and at ea quay ers. This completes his proposed set of
interviews, except for James Angleton, who is proving elusive.
Bob also attended a seminar at the Marine Corps History Center which
featured an address by Assistant Secretary of Defense James Webb.
Diane has put in requests for two two-day OTE courses later this summer.
She is 7ring the end of her project of entering the History Staff's
holdings into the Agency's computerized system. Only one batch of
boxes remains to be processed, plus another batch which we are still holding
while CRD determines whether some covering letters included in it can be
downgraded from TOP SECRET.
Diane has received back from the DDI RMO a large group of documents from
the group the State Department historians requested from the Kennedy
Library. She is now processing these. Only seven documents from this
request are still out-standing.
Arrangements have been made for Don to assist OSO/SAD in putting out its
bi-weekly newsletter. As requested b C/SAD, Don will work
there one day to prepare each publication. This is something Don had done
prior to coming to the History Staff.
