Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2009/11/18: CIA-RDPO1-00569R000100100011-9 Executive Secretary History Staff Bi-weekly 1. Having received nearly 100 applications for our Staff Historian job, we are now selecting our short list, so that we can arrange interviews for them and inform those not selected. 2. Ken met with and others from OIS to begin organizing the historical documents review program to which Mr. Casey committed the Agency by his October 1983 exchange of letters with Senator Durenberger. The CIA Information Act requires the DCI to report to Congress on this program (and its possible expansion) by 1 June 1985. In managing this program jointly with OIS, the History Staff will serve as liaison with the historical profession, and advise Agency components on which of their records are of historical interest. 3. Don sent the DDCI, for his comments, the chapter from his monograph concerning the overhead program with which Mr. McMahon had been 4. Since last May Ken has been after IMS/DO to review CIA's holdings of OSS films to try to find footage of General Donovan for use in a film that Mr. Edward Boughton, Secretary of the Veterans of Strategic Services, is making for Donovan Memorial Foundation. In the end, they turned up only several more copies of a film that Boughton had already been given access to last May. 5. Diane finished processing and sent to the State Department's History Office the last of a large batch of CIA-originated documents State's researchers had selected at the Kennedy Library. Of the 660 documents sent us, State eliminated 224 by re-screening the documents here after we received them. The components denied 247 documents, so that 189 were released (mostly at their existing classification) for State to consult in preparing the Vietnam War volumes of the Foreign Relations of the United States series.
