These installations are situated astride the main communication lines extending between Tbilisi and Baku (see map of military installations) . The military installation located north of the railroad, covers an irregular-shaped area`meaguring approximately X650 by 1450 feet over-all. Within the fenced .area. there are 19 large gable-roofed warehouse-type build- ingsand 19 smaller buildings. Some of these buildings are situated partly =_or~ entirely within four separately-fenced inner enclosures. The fenced area in the extreme northeast corner of the installation is used for open. storage and, possibly, for a motor pool.. Eight earth-covered bunkers, probably used for ammunition storage, are situated just inside the fence bounding the south side of the installation. Immediately south of this military installation is a probable underground oil pipeline, which. closely parallels. an irrigation ditch that originates in:Rustavi. Adjacent to the probable pipeline is a small possible.underground POL storage area, consisting of 12 subsurface tanks surrounded by an earthen wall. . A power substation enclosed by aconcrete-pillar and iron-bar-type fence, is located just north of the railroad. The main building has a multigabled roof and ~. high tower approximately twice the height of the main structure. There TOP SECRET AnnrnuPri Fnr RPIPasP ~ClClFilCl5lfl:i ~ t~lA-RI~PCI:~TC1~~~~RCI(iCl1Cl(i~RCI(iCl1-5 ~ ~ ~ A~ved~Rel T0~3R0~02~'I-5 ~ ~ ~ are 12 transformers and 4 power line towers in the substation y_~rd. A rail spur extends. west from the main line and branches into two tracks which serve the substation. The substation. probab~.y converts the pov~{er for the high tension line that passes to the .north .and the gower.l'irte'for the electri- fied railroad to the south. The military installation south of the railr, nad ~s a possible ammunition storage facility. It appears to be separated into two distinct secured areas. The more northerly area has seven large gable;-roofed warehouse-type build- ings and 10 smaller buildings. .Jus't south of tl~iis area and adjacent to the wall i.s: ahip-roofed possible headquarters building. The more southerly section has 16 large and three small warehouse-type buildings. Orie of these appears to be agable-roofed, shed-Cype structure with open sides. Twenty-six .objects that appear to be vehicles with a protective cover are near two of these build- ings. Ahip-roofed possible headquarters building iB situated at the main entrance, outside the i~enced ~.rea. No blast walls are visible, but the instal- lation is situated in a ~roo.ded area which would provide fitast protection. A majority of the roads in the area are unimproved. However, the main highway which parallels the south side of the railroad, and the two main roads which serve the military installations are improved and probably have a gravel surface. There is a small rail classification yard four tracks wide, in which 31 box cars are visible. No rail spurs serve the military installations.
