He said: My visit to Austria was'extremely positive. It made it possible to explain viewpoints on various international issues which used to be distorted by the Zionist, imperialist and reactionary media. During this visit I was able to convince the Austrian people and officials of the correctness of our position and the justice of our cause. The leader said that the comprehension, vitality and courage of the Austrian chancellor effectively influenced the success of this visit and also helped the majority of the official sectors of Western public opinion appreciate that our posture and policy are greatly misunderstood. He added that this visit confirmed that dialogue and direct meetings are the best means to settle international issues and to establish world understanding which strengthens world peace. The leader of the revolution, in his statement to JANA, stressed that we are hopeful direct meetings like the one which took place in Austria will take place with all the Western countries. He explained that this is.the way to understand each other and to avoid much misunderstanding and counter propaganda. The leader explained that he did not discount making other successful visits to Western Europe to serve the cause of peace in Europe, the Mediterranean Sea and Africa and the development of economic and political cooperation among these countries. He said: I do not discount that this will take place even with America. About his stop in Malta this evening [13 March] the brother leader explained that his stop was the result of the intervention of Chancellor Kreisky who had an important role in bringing about an understanding with Malta. He said the stop in Valetta gave him the chance to meet with Prime Minister Dom Mintoff, members of his government and the president of the republic. The talks he held restored matters to their normal course and it was agreed to submit the question of the continental shelf to the International Court of Justice, as was done between Libya and Tunisia. He added that.his stop in Valetta led to a complete understanding with Dom Mintoff and his government and was received with a warm fraternal spirit. He stressed that this meeting opened the door for further cordial understandings to settle many of the problems in the region and in the world.
