Algerian people on the 32d anniversary of the beginning of the
Algerian revolution"]
[Text] The beginning of the Algerian revolution, the immortal
revolution, the revolution of the 1.5 million martyrs on 1 Novem-
ber, was not accidental; fate obviously decided to associate it with
the month of November because the seeds of revolution were
sown on that date just as the seeds of plants, growth and greenery
are planted. We would like these seeds to be the seeds of a good
tree, whose roots are firm and whose branches reach to the sky.
The sky of the Arab revolution is an Arab nation united in one
entity, not in 20 midget entities, from the Ocean to the Gulf.
Our people in Algeria, who planted the tree of freedom with their
hands and watered it with their blood, understand, and their
perceptive strugglers understand, that Arab unity, without which
this tree would be exposed to the storms which lie in wait for every
green branch which grows on Arab soil, shields this tree so that
its shadow lengthens and its fruits become ripe.
On behalf of the martyrs of the (Al-'Aliyah) cemetery who were
created by colonialism, which tore apart the unified homeland
and dispersed the unified family, we urgently appeal to every
Algerian, every man and woman and every youth and to the
millions-strong Algerian Arab people and their military and
political leadership headed by our struggling brother, Chadli
Bendjedid, to start changing the map of the Arab homeland. Now
colonialism has started to attack every piece separately and will
continue until it swallows the lot. Colonialism acts according to
the principle of divide and rule.
Out of loyalty to the 1.5 million martyrs, the millions who started
out on that day of the revolution should complete tae heroic
odvss:v in response t,i t} c Arab nation's wait for the arrival of
the wound-decorated ;\li:eri.tn people into the arena of Arab
unity. It is the duty of those millions of our people in Algeria to
achieve unity immediately, because unity means exploiting the
victory of battle for liberation and any victorious power which
does not exploit the victory of the battle becomes the loser.
We call on the millions who wrote in blood the national charter
to actually apply what they wrote with conviction about Arab
unity in that charter, where they say: Algeria believes in the
possibility of achieving Arab unity and its struggles for the
achievement of that aim, which has become a necessity in the era
of large communities.
We call on the Algerian youth, we call on the peasants, workers,
employees, soldiers and officers, and we call on the FLN cadres,
Central Committee members and member of the Political bureau
to close ranks behind our brother struggler, Chadli Bendjedid, in
his pursuit of unity.
Many happy returns. May the revolutionary struggle for unity
continue.
