Dear Jim,
informs me that you very kindly
met with him an a group of Intelligence Community
and DoD representatives to discuss initiatives
which are being undertaken by the DoD in the area
of Computer Security. He also mentioned that you
recalled our pleasant association in connection
with the War College.
I wish to thank you for taking a personal
interest in this problem. I consider it one of
great importance to the Intelligence Community in
particular and the national security in general.
The computer industry has the opportunity to
make a great contribution to national security if
it moves more aggressively in developing more
secure operating systems for large general purpose
computers. I have asked George to keep me informed
of developments in this area.
Thank you again for your cooperation. My
congratulations on your recent promotion and the
new responsibilities assigned to you by IBM.
Yours,
STANS-FIELD TURNER
