Wriston September 27, 1978 Memorandum for Council Members, Guests and Their Wives Attending the October 1978 Meeting at The Homestead, Hot Springs, Virginia I. Enclosed are: a. Schedule of social events. b. Tentative agenda for business sessions. c. List of new Council members, 1975-1978. d. Schedule for ladies' events. e. Guest list, with brief biographies. II. a. The Tower Lounge and adjoining Writing Room, opposite the Tower elevator, will be for the exclusive use of Council guests, members and wives from 4:00 p.m. Thursday on. b. Members and their wives are requested not to invite non-Council guests into the Tower Lounge or to the receptions before dinner on Thursday and Friday evenings. c. In order to prevent any embarrassing situa- tions, attendance at the Friday night dinner is limited to Council guests, members and wives. d. It is requested that members refrain from holding private social functions at times which con- flict with scheduled Council events. e. Dress is optional on Thursday evening; black- tie on Friday evening. f. Dinner seating for Friday evening will be by drawing from bowls. Members and/or wives who have been asked to sit at the Head Table are requested to please check the seating list inside the Commonwealth Room during the cocktail hour in order to avoid last-minute confusion at the Head Table. The meeting will conclude with adjournment of the Satur- day morning business session. However, the Tower Lounge will be open all day Saturday, including during the normal cocktail hour, and may be held open on Sunday, dependent upon the number of people who are staying over. h. There will be a men's golf tournament Friday afternoon on The Homestead Course with an entry fee of $10.00 for prizes to be paid to the Club Pro by Council members before teeing off. The Club Pro will assist members and guests wishing to make up foursomes. It is important that starting times be made well in advance. Ar- rangements for ladies' golf are spelled out in the enclosed ladies' schedule. i. Separate tennis tournaments for ladies and gentlemen will be held on Friday, arranged with the help of the Tennis Pro, Mr. Pat Haynes. For the men's play on Friday afternoon a $10.00 entry fee should be paid to the Pro by Council members. Ladies are asked to refer to the enclosed schedule for details on their play. j. A hunter-style breakfast will be served in the Dominion Room on Friday and Saturday mornings at 7:30 a.m. This is designed to provide fast and convenient service to all those who will be at- tending the morning business sessions in the Commonwealth Room. k. For those attending the business sessions in the Commonwealth Room, coffee service will be available during the meeting breaks in the adjoining Dominion Room. Telephones installed on the upper level of the Commonwealth Room can be used during the breaks for outgoing calls only. 1. Dr. James Harnsberger will be in residence at The Homestead for the duration of our meeting. His room number will be posted on the bulletin board in the Tower Lounge. Anyone who has need of his medical services can reach him in his room or through the hotel switchboard. m. Attached is a separate schedule giving complete details on all events for the ladies. n. The Homestead telephone number is 703, 839-5500. Our office will be in the Valley Room, extensions 2646 and 2647. The Business Council secretaries are Miss Jean Carter and Miss Deborah Pons. o.
