SUBJECT: World Steel Outlook Report
1. When I was in Cleveland the other night at a dinner with a
group of businessmen, the subject of our report on the world steel
outlook came up. A senior official at Republic Steel indicated that
they had a much more optimistic view of the potential world,.steel
market than we did. I mentioned our concern at the-number of LDCs
who were developing capacity. He acknowledged that but still thought
the growth in demand for steel was enough to buoy up the market for
some time to come.
2. Now that our report is a year or more old, how do we think
it is holding up?
