A Cuban ASW frigate and a landing ship left Havana and rendezvoused with the Leningrad helicopter carrier, a Soviet destroyer and another Cuban frigate some 60 miles northeast of Havana. Comment: This is the twelfth Soviet task group to operate in the Gulf of Mexico, but it is the first time it has been accompanied by a Cuban warship. Joint exercises probably will continue for several days in areas near Cuba. Earlier this week, the Soviet task group and the Cuban frigate conducted ASW operations some 200 miles off the Louisiana coast. 25X1 25X1 - Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/05/17: CIA-RDP06T01849R000200110036-3
