PRODUCT
Work on the 270 km. Great Ferhana Canal which involves the excavation of 13
million cubic meters of earth has been started in Uzbekistan, Central Asia. At the
height of construction in August, 160 thousand collective farmers and 2 thousand
ergineers and technicians will be engaged on the project which involves also
the erection of many dams and bridges. Tishabay Mirzayev, a former collective
farmer, has been appointed head of the job by the Council of the People's Commissars
of the Uzbek SSR.
