From the mainland it seems as though there are not many islands within our territorial
waters, because the sea seems so immense. But, in fact we have a large number of big,
medium and small islands. Beside Koh Kong, which is our largest island, we have
Kaoh Tonsay, Kaoh Preah, Kaoh Rong Sanloem, Kaoh Samit, Kaoh Ta Kiev, Kaoh Ses, Kaoh
Thmei, Kaoh Pou, Kaoh Angkrang, Kaoh Pring, Kaoh Tang, Kaoh Makprang, (Kaoh Akne),
Kaoh Kandal, Kaoh Smach, Kaoh Buon, Kaoh Wai, (Poulo Wai), (Kaoh Sovi), etc.
These islands have all been cleared and turned into farmland where rice, corn, cassava,
sweet potatoes, bananas, coconut palms, beans and vegetables are grown. There are
also various types of orchards on these islands. Realizing that the territorial waters
and islands are rich in natural resources, our revolutionary soldiers have an even
higher sense of patriotism. Under the most correct and clear-sighted leadership of
the Cambodian Revolutionary organization, our revolutionary units assigned to defend
our territorial waters and islands continue to maintain their high sense of patriotism
and revolutionary vigilance while performing their tasks. They will not tolerate any
aggression or encroachment by any enemy from near or distant lands against our
territorial waters and islands. Our Revolutionary Army units, which have a long
tradition of waging a valiant struggle against the enemy, are resolute in their
determination to sacrifice everything in their effort to defend and build the country
into an even more powerful and prosperous nation in the shortest possible time.
The territorial waters and islands of our beloved Cambodian fatherland, which were
exposed for thousands of years to encroachments and destruction from all stripes of
enemies, are now under the permanent protection of the heroic sons and daughters of
the Cambodian workers and peasants. From now on, all the islands of our beloved
fatherland will continue to prosper and to provide all sorts of natural resources for
the betterment of our people's living conditions, and will contribute effectively to
the national defense and construction efforts.
