Views of the Inter-DivSsional Committee
on the Balkan-Denublan Region
The Inter-Divisional Committee on the Balkan-
Danubian Region agrees that the 1937 frontier between
Austria and Czechoslovakia should be restored (Solution A)0
The Committee rejects any consideration of retention
of the frontiers established as a result of the
Munich Agreement of 1938 (Solution C) because it cannot
be justified on ethnic grounds and would threaten
Czechoslovakia strategically and disrupt its system
of railway communications. Likewise, the Committee la
of the opinion that cession to Austria of the railway
station of Gmand (Velenice) and the region of Feldsberg
(Nikulov), desired in certain Austrian circles, is
undesirable because of its injurious effect on
Czechoslovek railway communications (Solution 5).
Although the Committee favors restoration of the
1937 frontier between Czechoslovakia and Austria, it
sees no objection to any mutually satisfactory frontier
adjustment which the two parties directly concerned
may make.
