EXCERPT FROM DIRECTOR, FBIS DAILY LOG - 13 February 1969
1. Jake Goodwin, Asst. to DCI~ called. regarding the availability of
old FBiS tapes now in the possession of the U.S. Archives. 'Those
particularly at issue at this time are the Lord Iia.- Haw and Tokyo
Rose tapes, all unclassified, deposited in 1949, with the
stipulation that they not be released without permission of CIA.
A check with the General Counsel's off ice indicated no objections
to their being made available to the public by the Archivist,
except to warn the recipient that -hies use of them might involve
the assumption of copyright risks.
After consulting I notified Goodwin that we (L&R) would
contact Archives r.s. o eman, Code 13-36725) to remove the CIA
control. on these specific tapes. Also, L&R is to ,get an inventory
of what Archives has in the way of FBIS tapes and what controls,
if any, are placed on this material. cc: L&R
