I Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2012/10/31 : CIA-RDP10T01930R000100050001-3 Micrographics production is an area where savings may be possible, but a study would be needed to determine how much. In 1977, OL and nIs participated in a joint objective to study the consolidation of micrographics production facilities. OL/PPD provides a central microfilming plant for the Agency. Each of the other Directorates also has a sizable microfilm production facility. The OL/OIS position in 1977 was that the Agency could save approximately 11 slots, and about 4,000 square feet of floor space through consolidation. The other Directorates strongly objected for various reasons. The consolidation issue went to the DCl/EAG in 1978 and was not approved. With the changes in the Agency since then, it might make sense to look at this issue again. OL is also making such a proposal in its savings memorandum to you.
