Purpose: To brief Mr. Conte as to the potential impact of his
amendment to the FY 81 Legislative Branch Appropriations
Act (H.R. 7593) on intelligence gathering, with a view to
pursuading Mr. Conte to withdraw his amendment from the
Continuing Resolution being marked up by the House
Appropriations Committee, which Continuing Resolution
will have "folded into" it the major portions of
H.R. 7593, including the Conte amendment.
