24. LIAISON Jack Brady, Chief of
Staff, House International Relations Committee, called requesting that
Ev Bierman, Minority Counsel, Bill Fite, of the Committee staff, and
Alison Brenner and Mike Van Dusen, of the Subcommittee on Europe
and the Middle East staff, be cleared for access to
information, I told him that we had already started the processing for
Brenner and Van Dusen and would submit the names of Bierman and
Fite for clearing.
I also asked Brady if he had any objection to State reading the
transcript of the Director's testimony on AWACS before the full
Committee on 21 July. He said he had no problem with it.

25. LIAISON Accompanied George Cary 25X1
to meet Guy McConnell and Jim Fellenbaum, Senate Appropriations
Committee staff. Mr. Cary discussed various aspects of Presidential
Directive NSC/17 and alerted McConnell and Fellenbaum to a letter
being drafted by the Comptroller on the Conference Report on the
FY 78 Budget.
26. BRIEFING Gwen Pritchard, in the
office of Representative Ike Skelton (D., Mo.), called requesting a
briefing on the Panama t '71r-aid the Congressman had really
enjoyed his last "breakfast briefing" and that he would like to do it
again. She suggested Tuesday, 13 September, as a preferred date.
I said we would call back. CSS, advises that he can
brief on the Panamanian reaction to the Treaty but not on the Treaty
provisions or their legal or policy, ramifications.

? 27. EMPLOYMENT REQUESTS Received a
call from Greg Jones, in the office of Senator John L. McClellan (D., Ark.
who asked for one professional. and one clerical employment package
for a constituent. I told him I would forward the material to him.
28. LIAISON George Sousa, GAO, called 25X1
again requesting information in response to GAO's letter on the "AWACS
assurances." I informed Mr. Sousa the matter was still under consideration,
and we would let him know as soon as an appropriate decision had been made.
