(Internal Use Only - CM) BRIEFING At request and in Pat Carpentier's absence on the Hill I talked with Jim Pyrros, Administrative Assistant to Representative Lucien Nedzi (D., Mich.), about specific subjects of interest for the briefing of Mr. Nedzi this afternoon on three Middle East countries which had been scheduled as a follow up to yesterday's briefing on Africa. Pyrros said that he had not had a chance to talk with Mr. Nedzi since the briefing of the day before and suggested that our analysts "wing it." Page 3 NFAC, 11. (Internal Use Only - CM) BRIEFING At the request of John Andrew Hamilton, Jr., CBO, we postponed the scheduled briefing.today for him on matters of methodology' in interpreting Soviet defense expenditures. We tentatively rescheduled it for 10 November, at 2:00 p.m. 12. (Internal Use Only - CM) LIAISON I talked with Jim Conrow, in the office of Representative C. W. Bill Young (R., Fla.), who said that he had noted in the New Digest of the American Enterprise Institute for 2 November that CIA had recently published a report on the Soviet Union's ownership of businesses in the west. He said that he would like to get a copy of the report. I checked with NFAC/CSS, who said this was a publication entitled, "Soviet Commercial Operations in the West." Conrow indicated that he would like the report by noon today. I arranged to have the report . dropped off at 1:00 p.m., which was 'satisfactory to Conrow. 13. (Internal Use Only - CM) CONSTITUENT Lucien Haas, in the office of Senator Alan Cranston (D., Calif.), called to say that he had received a request from Warner Brothers Studios asking if there is a CIA STAT office. in Warner: Brothers is making a film with some reference in it to CIA and it appeared that they wanted to shoot some footage in a real STAT CIA office I checked with OPA, who said that we had had such requests in the past and always turned them down. I called Haas back and told him that we did not honor requests of this nature due to security reasons. Haas said that he understood and that appeared to end the matter. ?
