10. LIAISON Called Jon David Holstine,
House International Relations Committee staff, and told him in connection
with his request that I would leave a copy of the "National Basic Intelligence
Fact Book" and a collection of maps for him at the main Committee
reception room. He appreciated our prompt response.
12. LEGISLATION Spoke with Hal Ford,
Senator Adlai Stevenson's (R., Ill.) designee on the Senate Select Committee
on Intelligence; Stan Taylor, Senator Jake Garn's (R., Utah) designee; and
Mitchell Daniels, Administrative Assistant to Senator Richard Lugar (R., Ind.
concerning the Agency's position on S. 305, and requerteVireTrfing it
to their Senator's attention. I further requested they indicate that George
Cary would like to hear from the Senators as soon as they have had a chance
to study the problem in order to work out a strategy for addressing these
concerns in the bill before it is reported out by the Senate Committee on
Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.
