Conditions appear to be excellent and Jim is extremely happy with

APO at Detachment A has been changed
John reports an increase in activity and happiness with the
condition of rebuilt instrument No. 12.

at Detachment B will find that his
trunk went to Detachment A by mistake. He should receive it soon.
Present activities at the plant center around
production of the thermostat bubble which we will ship in new
instruments beginning with No. 48. Field retrofits will beg
April and will be complete early in May. Optical improvement program
very successful to date with 22 of 43 instruments overhauled with new
optics. We have decided on a . 006" thick sheet of glass to be used
as the bubble mirror. This glass sheet eliminates the double bubble
reflection and with the new thermostat bubble, gives a clear illuminated
circle. The glass is a little tricky to handle but very cheap. so we will

send large enough quantities to the field with the bubble mod.
Reports continue to arrive with actual shot records.
We now have statistics on approximately 700 shots from the period
1 September 1956 through 22 March 1957. We continually compile
error curves. When another one is drawn up, I will distribute it
to the field via the newsletter.
Computer design proceeding nicely and we hope
to ship our first lot of Mark III drift sight handles the week of
April 15.
