Many thanks for letting me uee your sponsorship with the
JetStar flight of 29 April. I must admit that it was a rather
confasing exercise, since it was obvious that the people at
knew very little about the requirement for the special
trip laid on by Kelly. The crew was helpful, but totally unin
formed, and fortunately I was able to arrange with
office for the necessary clearances in and out of Washington
National. The whole thing almost came to a *ad ending when ten
minutes before takeoff time, it was discovered that the battery
vat, so run down that the aircraft would not start. was at
the point of saggesting that we all arrange for commercial tickets
to the Coast when I was able to wangle an MD-3, 1200 AMP starter
from MATS next door to charge the battery enough to get off the
ground.
In accordance with our telephone converaation, I am attach-
ing a copy of the invoice from A & A Liquor Store, 1909 Pennsyl-
vania Avenue, N. W., covering $64.99 worth of spirits and soda,
coke, etc., which I would very much appreciate if you would pass
back to Kelly Johnson for inclusion in his billings to us under
one of his basic contracts. It would be helpfal to me if you
could send me a check, presumably drawn on Lockheed locally for
this amount so that I could settle my voucher with Uncle Sam,

and then I would leave you to settle the accounting with Kelly,
along with the billing for .68.18, representing rood for the
flight which Hot Shoppes tells me will be billed to you direct
at 1000 Connecticut Avenue.
