I4 pURPM: To establish procedures for the activation of back-up communications
upon receipt of a mission alert,
II, SCOPE: The provisions of this SOP are applicable to the Chief and Deputy Chief,
Cowunications,, and the-Operator(s).
III. RESpONSIBILITX: It will be the responsibility of the Communications Section to
follow the instructions outlined herein to ensure the availability of back-up
communications during airborne portions of mission alerts,

A. Upo ceipt of a mission alert, the Chief or Deputy Chief, Communications# or
the Operator, will prepare a -cable requesting activation of a back up
radio eletype circuit a minimum of one hour prior to scheduled mission take--off
time; appropriate frequencies for transmission and reception will be included.
The message will be released as soon as possible after receipt of an affirmative
