STANDARD FORM Woroved For Release 2001/ 001 77 A000200070112-1 U1J%#"W"1M491 M- Office Memorandum ? UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO services v fiver FROM = _ ,ling Deputy Services of fiver SUBJECT; ;,, ;-;asings on Cargo DATE: su ;u 2: , 194'9 Investigation reveals that paper shipped on subject cargo had been procured from the U. S. Government Printing Office. Although repeated requests have been made to G.P.O. not to mark shipments of paper to CIA with CIA markings, they still continue to do so. It has been the practice of our warehouse personnel to clip out these markings from the wwrrappings'` each ream of paper. It is apparent that some of these markings were inadvertently overlooked. The responsibility for seeing that'supplies are not shipped outi beaa}x 9IA markings is vested in the Chief and Assistant Chiefs.-maker-Caster. They have been instructed to inspect all such items to assure that such incidents do not happen. The seriousness of this oversight has again been emphasized to those employees responsible. It appears that the most definite means of precluding this happening again is to make a special request to the G.P.O. to discontinue marking packages of paper delivered to CIA. Further, all purchase requests directed to G.P.O. will carry a note to the effect that all shipments must be free of CIA markings. Approved For Release 2001/08/ IA RDP54-00177A000200070112-1
