MATS ADVANCED AND OPERATIONAL SURVIVAL SCHOOL
00URSE NO. 83
1. Description.
A twenty-eight (28) day course desinged to provide advanced
training and methods of instruction in Survival and Emergency techniques
as taught in MATS Advanced and Operational Survival School Course No. 81.
The first twenty-one (21) days instruction will be identical and carried
out simultaneously with MATS Advanced and Operational Survival School
Course No. 81. The remaining seven (7) days instruction will be devoted
to teaching students methods of planning training curricula, methods of
instruction, preparation of visual training aide and demonstration
exhibits, the planning control and organization of field exercises, etc.
Students successfully qualifying.in this course will be considered
capable of assisting in organizing Survival and Emergency technique
training at unit level.

Course Data.
a. Durations Twenty-eight (28) days.
b. Class Capacityi As directed by the higher echelon respon-
sible for the nomination of students, but it is recommended that not
than ten (10) students be selected to attend any one course.
c. Class Frequencyi The course will occur once per month
and commence on the same day and run concurrently with MATS Advanced
and Operational Survival School Course No. 81.

Students selected to attend should arrive in regulation .
summer flying clothing during the months from June to October and in
winter uniform from November to June, and must include either G.I.
combat'or equivalent footwear. Fatigues, change of underwear, towels,
toilet kits, spare socks are mandatory requirements for both summer
and winter classes.
