Dear Colonel Lessig:
7 March 1951
In General Smith's absence I want to reply to
your letter of March 3 asking for his comments and sug-
gestions on the outline of your proposed term paper on
the subject, "National Security Requirements for a Na-
tional Intelligence College".
The General is due to return the latter part
of March, and in the meanwhile, I am taking the liberty
of sending your letter to Colonel Baird, our Director
of Training, with the request that he prepare his com-
ments on your proposal to give to the General along
with your letter.
Incidentally, it might be mutually profitable
for you and Colonel Baird to have a talk on this subject.
I believe he has already given considerable thought to
the matter of establishing some sort of high level intel-
ligence school.
